Collection: mitsuro hikime
Mitsuro-Hikime roughly translates to honey (mitsu) wax (ro) drawing (hiki) texture (me). Mitsuro-Hikime is an ancient art form, dating back more than 1,300 years in Japan. The wax is a combination of bees wax and pine rosin. The wax is slowly warmed with your hands until it becomes malleable. The texture is formed from folding and stretching the wax, much like taffy at a candy store. This technique allow for one-of-a-kind sculptural and textural elements.
